skill to obtain employment as a general automotive technician in a new or used car dealership or independent service center. In
addition, you`ll be qualified to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) tests and become certified when you have satisfied
the ASE job experience requirements. Today`s cars are computerized from "A to Z." You`ll learn computer based diagnosis on both
carbureted and fuel injected engines. You`ll tear down transaxles, service anti-lock braking systems, evaluate and "tweak"
engine performance, etc. If you love cars, you`ll love Porter and Chester`s automotive program.
CADD (Computer-Aided Drafting & Design)
Unlike the generalized courses that are offered at most schools, you have two different programs to choose from. One
concentrates on drafting and design in the Architectural and Civil Engineering fields, and the other concentrates on drafting
and design in the Mechanical and Electronic Engineering fields. In other words, you can specialize in either the development of
buildings and building sites, or you can specialize in the development of products and the tools with which products are
manufactured. This approach provides the time needed for you to become a real "pro" with AutoCAD, which is the software used by
almost all architectural and engineering firms.
Computer and Network Technology
Install and trouble-shoot computers, computer networks, and internet working components. Upgrade and repair computers and
peripherals (the equipment connected to computers). Build and maintain networks. Learn the principles and practices of
designing, building, and maintaining networks capable of supporting national and global organizations. Develop customer
relations and service skills and be able to provide support in the Microsoft environment. Know your way around in such programs

you wire are safe for yourself and the occupants. The course work in this program prepares you to take the L-6 and E-2 license
exams.
Electronic Systems Technology
This course provides students with training in the technology used to build today`s modern electronic devices, particularly in
the areas of security and telecommunications. From basic electronics and electrical circuits, to the latest use of lasers and
fiber optics for use in data and voice communications, you will learn how electronic devices work, how to design them, and how
to build them. With a solid foundation in technical training, problem solving, and communications skills, by the time you
graduate, you`ll have sufficient knowledge and skill to obtain employment for entry-level positions in electronics technology.
HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration)
Install, trouble-shoot, and repair residential, commercial, and industrial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Become confident in the use of modern diagnostic equipment and computer-based evaluation and investigation techniques. Gain
experience and professional level skill by working with the same equipment and executing the same tasks actually called for on
the job. Porter and Chester`s program is approved for credit in Connecticut`s apprenticeship program and prepares you to take
the B-2, D-2, and S-2 license exams. The program is also approved for credit in the Massachusetts apprenticeship program
preparing you to take the Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician Certification of Competency and the Refrigeration and Technician
License.
Administrative Health Specialist
The health claims field is one of the fastest-growing career opportunities in the health care field. You`ll develop a thorough
understanding of medical administrative topics including accounting, medical records, terms and conditions of insurance, and
rights and obligations of patients, along with an understanding of computer technologies. This occupation is ideal for the
individual who wishes to join the health care field in a position that doesn`t require performing clinical procedures. Upon

other words, it provides you with the knowledge and skill required for competent performance in today`s medical offices,
hospitals, and other health services environments. For example, you`ll take blood pressures, perform EKG`s and other medical lab
procedures. You`ll learn how to assist physicians in various situations, as well as prep patients, set up schedules, and manage
